Mark of Athena- Knowlege does triumph all in the end

Its another Sunday and Yin and Yang are back to work. Dear readers, this is Yin. I apologise for every weird thing Yang did in his previous review (sons of Poseidon I tell you). Anyway, today we're here to focus on a daughter of Athena! Finally some recognition! So let's get straight into it.

By the end of Son of Neptune, we have Percy and gang waiting for Annabeth and team to come and meet them at Camp Jupiter. And finally in Mark of Athena our two love birds unite ( Romeo and Juliet are just friends beside them) Jason and Piper go around the camp, Annabeth has a friendly chat with Reyna. All is fine. A bit too fine I guess. So obviously to disrupt all this "happiness" Leo has to be possessed by Eidolons (evil spirits and minions of Gaia) and starts firing the ballista and wrecking havoc at camp. They had come there to strengthen relations between Roman and Greek demigods, but that was not going to be possible today. So the seven of them fled to the ship and took off as fast as they could.

They escape alright, but with a whole Roman armada trying to find them, they can only run but can't hide. Piper gets a vision on her knife that involves Bacchus, the wine God. Jason, Percy and Piper go to Kansas and meet the wine God who says that they'll have to kill two giants and Giants can't be killed alone by either God or demigod, both had to work together. Just as they were talking, Gaia's minions posses Percy and Jason, but our Charmspeaker outwits them and saves the day. Charmspeaking is a power used by Aphrodite's children, they are mainly self-centered but Piper is genuinely nice, so the power is in good hands.

Later, coach Hedge, Frank and Percy fight Keto and Phorcys for information about Gaia's plan. And the Romans ultimately do find them and all hell breaks loose! Our seven and Coach Hedge get on an unknown ship with an unknown enemy ready to fight them to the death. All roads lead to Rome and so do our adventurers. They go to Rome to find answers to the prophecy and mostly to leave Annabeth all alone to find the Mark of Athena and bring it back, though no child of Athena has ever been able to find it. She has to go alone and survive alone with no help whatsoever.

Percy now has to defeat two giants, worry about his girlfriend coming back to him and save the world. I'm actually kind of feeling sad for the guy. Anyway, this is an amazing novel and with each novel the suspense just keeps rising and has you craving for more. But beware. The cliffhanger at the end of this novel is the worst so far. That's all from me this week. See you next Sunday with the review on House of Hades from Yang. This is Yin signing out.

Yang, don't even think of eating the chocolate ice cream! My sister is in mortal danger so I need all kinds of comfort food! Yeah, that's right. Whimper back to your room. Sons of Posiedon! I have to take tips on how she keeps Percy under the leash. After she comes back of course. Yes, she will come back, I believe in you sis, we all do.

Son of Neptune - Another empire shaking tale

Yang here, I am here for what I am here every time. To give you the review on the second book of the series, The Son of Neptune. I hope you enjoy it. If my writing is getting 'not-interesting' tell me, I would be happy to read the hate mail. At least I'll get mail. *sobs as if having years of practice*

So to begin with, our sassy, Greek-ily hot, sea green eyed, loving boyfriend is back. The one and only, Percy Jackson. What's the catch Yang? Even though he is Greek he happens to bump in on a Roman camp (Read the intro for the brief explanation of our two beloved empires). That sounds interesting, how did that happen? Of course, our one and only, Queen jealous-of-her-husband's-girlfriend, Hera (She should give classes to possessive people on how to take revenge, you can partner too Yin. Yin? are you possessed? why do you have the death stare? don't take a step forward! The power of Christ compels you! Ahhh! My will - My four pair of socks, some couple of T-shirts and Jeans and a couple of hundred bucks go to charity. The rest of my possessions are my undergarments, they go to the garbage can). She takes his memory and dumps him into a pack of wolves so that later he can go to the Roman Camp of demigods (Camp Jupiter). Why wolves? Because apparently that's how Romans roll, they are left with the pack of wolves whose queen is the god of wolves, Lupa. She trains them until she thinks they are ready  and then leaves them to go on their own and survive the cruel world till they reach camp. All this is done while the child is with wolves and they have their own principals, like if any child showed weakness then demigod special would be available in the dinner menu. She got the award of the most desirable nanny ever (okay Yin, I'll get off the ride of 'Humor on wolf' and get on the ride of 'book reviews' just not the lamp, it hurts.)

Getting back to the review, all that Percy remembers is Annabeth. Now he just has to find a way to get to her. Should be a piece a cake right? Only that it's anything but that. Percy fights Gorgons (they're related to Medusa) and reaches Camp Jupiter with an old lady on his back who turns out to be the Roman counterpart of Hera, Juno. Lot to process yes. There he meets Hazel and Frank who help him at Camp. Soon news spreads that a son of Neptune (counterpart of Posiedon) has come to camp and their camp head or Praetor, Reyna takes charge. She invites Percy to a nice friendly chat and tries extracting all the information she can but is left with none because he can't remember a thing! A few days later, Mars (counterpart of Ares) comes and gives a simple prophecy to Frank (who happens to be his son. Told you these Greeks and Romans are no different). His mission is to go to the land beyond the gods, Alaska, save a god, defeat a giant and bring back a Roman flag which will be vital for the future. Easy stuff. To bring it down a bit, Frank is the guy who is hungry, Alaska is a fridge (it actually is cold there) and saving a god, defeating a giant and getting the flag is the snack in the fridge. He does not have a choice because if he does not get the snack, the big prophecy would be useless (that's for another time).

As is the norm, every quest should have three demigods and Frank obviously chooses Hazel and Percy and the three set off on their adventure, hoping to find this god free him and get back to Camp alive. More than that Percy just wanted to get back to his old life, his old home, his old friends and his Annabeth.

This book is better that the first. The way Percy gets his memory back is one amazing ride. Frank and Hazel surprise us at every opportunity and the trio become really close by the end of their quest. And as to whether my distant brother gets his memory back or not, you'll get the answer in the book. That's right, MY distant brother *beaming with pride*. Anyway, that's all from me. Yin will see you here next week with the review of Mark of Athena (she's kinda sentimental about writing about her distant sister's adventure. Dont worry Yin, it would be alright. You just have to feel the pen and keyboard the rest will be done). See you readers!

First of the series- The Lost Hero

Another Sunday and Yin and Yang are back together to give you the review on the Lost Hero. So, today I, Yin, will be taking you through the first novel that led to a revolution in the worlds of Gods both Greek and Roman. It all started in a bus.

Our protagonist, Jason Grace felt as though he woke up after a decade of sleep and next to him was a pretty girl holding his hand (Yeah Yang, I know you call it a fortune). For any average guy, if he finds a girl holding his hand, he's not going to care how they got there instead he'll think about what to do next (Yang, I know I can capture masculine perspective so delicately. Now being with you has its perks, even if useless ones)But Jason wasn't the average guy. He was a demigod. Soon he finds out that the girl next to him was "supposedly" his girlfriend Piper (Yang, I know it can't get any better than this, now let me tell you, it took an hour of energetically frolicking around with my dog to calm her. So I am tired. Now, shut up) and they had another friend, Leo. All of them were heading to see the Grand Canyon. That's where everything went wrong. Their teacher-in charge was Coach Gleeson Hedge. They reached the Grand Canyon and all hell broke lose. A student turned into a Venti (unfriendly wind spirits) and knocked both Piper and Jason in the Grand Canyon.  That was when Jason learnt that he could fly! Coach Hedge was captured by the Venti. They were saved by a girl and guy in a chariot. The girl immediately charged towards Jason demanding information about Percy Jackson, but Jason didn't know a thing about himself! How could he know anything about this guy, Percy Jackson. The three demigods are escorted to Camp Half-Blood.

After they reached Camp, Leo was revealed as a son of Hephaestus, Piper was a daughter of Aphrodite and Jaosn was a son of Zeus. Now, two of them are accommodated as Greeks. What about our hot, decent-guy protagonist? Even though he is the son of Zeus, he is not Greek. He is Roman, his father is Roman Zeus, namely Jupiter. Don't you dare say it's a planet, this post is mythical, not astrological. Now, in our previous intro, we wrote that Roman and Greeks don't go together, so how come a Coca-Cola has entered the neighbourhood of Pepsi? Clearly the work of a God (namely Hera/Juno). She just wants to poke her immortal nose everywhere. Now, I can't blame Hera (Or Juno) on this one. She did a fantastic job. Yes I said it. But her own interests were at heart for that particular time, you see, she was captured, and was due to become a wife of a giant, which is like the most ridiculous ship, pairing of two people, ever (not so much of an immortal, snobbish boss now are you?) Hera chooses Jason as the one who will free her, with Piper and Leo. As a custom in the camp, a prophecy is issued so that they may have a very vague clue of what will happen in the quest. Now how do they go to the prison to free the nose-poker queen of the universe? Does Jason get his memory back? What will happen to Jason and Piper, since she loves him but he is very confused? Amnesia does that.

Yang, what has happened to you? Have you reserved this day for being an overly girls-obsessive douche? Why do you think a pretty girl is the fortune and he is making a mistake by not "going for it"? Anyway, readers, do us a favour and read the book, it will be worth your time. Meanwhile, I'll go and debate with this guy of mine who writes. See you next Sunday.

The Heroes of Olympus - The ulitimate Greek stop mythology (Part 2)

Hiya readers! Yang here. So this post is actually an extension of the previous as we thought it was becoming too big for an introduction. This post will consist of an intro on House of Hades and Blood of Olympus, which is (unfortunately) supposed to be the last in the series (wipes an already red nose). Yes Yin, I know I cried for five days on that one, I remember it crystal clear, you also did as a matter of fact. Yeah, I just revealed it. You are not the only one in this room who can be an offspring of Satan okay?
Back to the review.

HOUSE OF HADES
Just when you think it can not get more interesting and you wouldnt have to suffer more than Mark of Athena Rick drops this. Probably even thinking, HAHA, noobs. Through the whole book it is shown that Annabeth and Percy are separated by the rest of the crew (before you go into a coma, let me tell you, they still are together). They land on a place where they can walk for a few thousand miles and reach the other end of the doors of death (should we tell them? Probably not. Most of them must already know). But in order to reach there, they have to walk through valleys, counter evil monsters, even gods, as if the gods weren't enough, they encounter Night herself (No kidding, NIGHT!), who is one of the first creations, and gives people a very great reason to be afraid of the dark. All of this is not enough suffering right? More to come. They are hungry and it feels like their innards have shrunk to a size of a pea and their supplies are depleted. Oh yeah, they have to drink fire.

BLOOD OF OLYMPUS-
Okay, this is it. The end. The apocalypse. The fountain of tears. The sarcasm. The mountain of suffering. The show of charm, strength, wit and mythical imagination. All packed and cleverly wrapped in the ultimate and endless expanse of pages, words and letters. This the time when it is shown that seven teenagers who posseses the charm, wit, sarcasm, strength, intellect and hope have the power to stop the greatest threat to both Gods and humanity, Gaia. How just two completely different empires, built in different eras (Romans and Greeks), shared rivalries for centuries, if worked together can do anything. Even stop our beloved, leaf-tiara making, Queen Dirt face (Gaia) from waking up. So how do they stop her? Or do they stop her at all? What will be the final battles? How will they emerge victorious? Does anybody die in this one? (Hope not, Rick will need more protection than the president of the United States from half of the world)

Okay readers, this is it, we have finished the introduction. Wait till next week for a more detailed review on lost hero. Don't forget, you'll get a new post every week.
Yin, want to have chocolates, while we watch Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt marathon?
Haha, I know I'm being a wee bit evil okay? This is the comeback for last week!
A little secret readers, Yin here is feeling really hungry but she does not want to finish her chocolate stash in one day, and just like any other girl, she loves Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt. But they both are married or too old. Have a good Sunday people!

Heroes of Olympus- The ultimate Greek mythology series (introduction)

(Cue the smoke. Cue the lights. And action!)
Yang! Curse your ADHD! You've got to learn how to control it! We are bloggers! We write. No, we will not have doves on the next one! What's with you and a flashy entrance? Stop fidgeting around now!

Fine day Sunday, isn't it? Hello there viewers. Sorry for the interruption, Yang is a bit ADHD, it's not much. So let's start again shall we? This is Yin and Yang back in action. For the coming five weeks, Yang and I are going to take you to the land of the gods, where adventure, quests and monsters thrive. We're planning to dedicate each post to each part. I'm here to kick-start our tour with an introductory post, giving you an insight to what you're going to get for the next few weeks. Five books and each one better than the other, this series is a keeper. So let's get straight into it!

THE LOST HERO-
Our protagonist for this part, Jason Grace, has an amnesia problem and tries to cope up. He's sent on a quest to save Hera. Accompanied by Leo and Piper, he sets out to find Hera hoping that she would have answers about his past. (God fact incoming. Hera is one possesive, short tempered wife who gets jealous of all the girls her husband (Zeus) "hangs out" with. What? No Yang it does not ring a bell. Yeah I'm sure. That's it! I'm half eating your chocolates! I don't care about your sacred beverage! And NO! I'll not save the small ones for you! Humph! Short-tempered and me? You will pay for this Son of Poseidon!)

THE SON OF NEPTUNE-
Getting back to our review, we have another case of amnesia, but this time with our Greek hero, Percy Jackson! The only thing he remembers is Annabeth. He sneaks past gorgons and finds his way to a camp. Soon a prophecy comes his way and he teams up with Hazel and Frank to find a trapped God and release him. But this quest is in a land away from the realm of the Gods, so the added danger and hence more chances of dying in battle. But that's the same old usual for a demigod right? From this part we get to know how dangerous sons of Neptune/Poseidon are. That's right Yang, I'm looking at you!

THE MARK OF ATHENA-
With each part, the adventure and magic just keeps getting better. Our seven heroes Percy, Annabeth, Jason, Piper, Leo, Hazel and Frank, get together on a ship, Argo II on Roman soil! (Romans and Greeks are like snake and mongoose. Okay Yang, help me out here. What should we call it? Stupidity or guts? Yeah, less informed is much better.) So they go on a quest to stop Gaia (the mother earth and their great grandmom) from waking up. No matter how despicable the gods are, you don't want Queen Dirt face to rule the world. As you are a demigod you get a "trouble attracting" magnet and a deadly hamper of monsters free so more complimentary hampers are bound to come. Yay! And yet we all thought Mother Earth was good, frolicking with bunnies with a rainbow as background and making cute little tiaras with leaves. This tells us a lot folks.

Okay Yang, don't you think it is getting too much? I don't think so but still too much magic, monsters and adventure may make our heads implode and also we don't want to obsess about it too much. So we'll meet you next week. Yang will get back to you on the remaining two parts. Until then, this is Yin and Yang signing out!
